Autonomous Markets in a Campus Setting

Autonomous Markets in a Campus Setting

Learn how two universities launched autonomous ‘cashierless’ technology on campus, including deploying the new technology, integrating it with existing systems and processes, and opening it to the students and employees. This webinar focuses specifically on the process of deploying the technology in a university setting rather than public commercial retail.

Jorrun Liston : Welcome everyone! This is being recording and we’ll post it on naccuTV.

John Ogle : Feel free to submit your questions for Ken and Scott here in the chat!

Laura Callahan : What tenders are accepted? Credit/Debit/Dining Dollars?

Christina Mosakowski – UNLV : Ken – Do you do any preauthorization on declining balance when the customer enters the store?

Ken Boyer – Mercer University : We do not pre authorize on entry into the store. In our markets students check out at the kiosk much like you would at Kroger or CVS. This is a little different in some of the just walk out methods such as what Scott is showing.

Laura Callahan : Ken – it sounds like your stores sell products from dining, vending, and the bookstore. Do the reports separate the sales by vendor?

Abe Cereno : Similar to retail stores, do an alarm sound triggers when patron walks out without paying? How do you deter non-paying or tailgater or passbacks?

Joshua Wroniewicz : Have you seen any instances of actual abuse of the overdraft issue where people seem to be intentionally doing it to try to get away, or is it mostly small issues/rounding errors?

Joe Jorczak : Hi all, Joe from AiFi here. We’re new members of NACCU and are excited to be DU’s partner powering the autonomous stores that Scott talked about. DM or email me ([email protected]) if you want to learn more. And thank you Scott for the great overview.
